Texas Hold'em Poker Guide

In the game of Texas Holdem, the best position you can be in is one in which you have the lead in the hand. This means that you are in a position in which you are the first one to raise. This is because when you take the lead it will alert your opponents that you are holding a strong hand. The Continuation Bet is a strategy that will allow you to stay in the lead as the game progresses.

If you have a strong hand and have raised Pre-Flop then you would play a Continuation Bet by raising in each of the betting rounds after the Flop. In essence, you are "continuing" your bet throughout the game in order to show your opponents that your hand is still strong.

The Continuation Bet works well when you have a strong hand and is also one of the best ways to bluff a strong hand. However, you need to be careful. If you have a strong hand in the hole and you raise Pre-Flop but the Flop doesn't improve your hand at all then you need to think first before you begin Continuation Betting. Take a look at the Flop and see if it is likely that one of your opponents has the nuts or a hand that is better than yours. If so, you may want to tighten up your game. However, if after the Flop you think the other players' hands are not strong enough to call your raise then place your Continuation Bet.

When used appropriately, Continuation Betting is a fantastic way to take the lead and win big at Texas Holdem.
